Color: unfiltered yellow honeycomb, rocky white head
Nose: grainy malt
Palate: well-balanced, malty, grainy, soft
Served: from a bottle at the brewery
Impression: I liked their Helles so much, I opted to try another bottled beer rather than return to their Fassbier. This Zwickel is likely the unfiltered version of the Helles and was a bit more rounded and maltier. The hop element was masked and there was some residual yeast flavor. It was a pleasant beer and if I’d had it before the Helles, I’d have probably enjoyed it more. It’s surely a thirst quencher on a summer day.
