Schederndorfer Rauchbier

dark smoke beer in glass
Schederndofer Rauchbier

Brewery: Brauerei Will
Town:
Schederndorf
Style:
Rauchbier
Color: dark brown, ruby highlights

Head: rocky, off-white

Nose:
smoky
Body:
full-bodied, medium carbonation
Palate:
smoky, bitter
Finish: clean, dry, bitter

Served: on tap at the brewery

Impression: I’d been to this brewery many years ago and never managed to get back until recently. They are most noted for their dark dry Landbier which I was happy to find at the Sandkerwa recently but their winning a recent Silver Medal for their seasonal Rauchbier was all the final incentive I need to get myself back here.  The pub was bustling and full of walkers, perfect for a downing a Rauchbier.  It came out looking the part, dark with a rocky head. The first whiff let me know it would be a smoky delight and it did not disappoint.  Besides the obvious flavors, it had quite a distinct bitterness about it that was not unpleasant in the least. If fact, it made it quite quaffable.

Next beer or back to the beer list.

    1. Some nice hiking in the vicinity, too. No longer gravity dispensed and sometimes not well-poured so over-carbonated. When it’s not, great stuff and a great spot to enjoy it.
