Grasser Vollbier
Brewery: Grasser
Town: Huppendorf
Style: Vollbier
Color: light amber
Head: white dense bubbles
Nose: grain, malt
Body: medium, low carbonation
Palate: fruity, hint of grain, dry
Finish: clean, dry
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: When it was put on the table in the brewery’s Biergarten, it looked magnificent. I almost didn’t want to drink it. It smelled of grain, appropriate in this small farming village in Franconia. The first sip was malty becoming fruity. You couldn’t call it hoppy but there was a fine bitterness about it and the finish was dry and clean. How a beer can be so simple and this good is a true work of art.
